President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to Nigeria’s foreign missions and the United Nations.

The envoys comprise 31 non-career and 34 career ambassadors whose nominations were confirmed by the Senate in December, 2025.

This is contained in a statement issued by the President’s spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Friday in Abuja.

Among the non-career envoys are former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, who was posted to Germany, while Jimoh Ibrahim was appointed Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Reno Omokri was posted to Mexico, while Lateef Are will serve as ambassador to the U.S..

Former Minister of Health, Isaac Adewole, was assigned to Canada, while Aminu Dalhatu will serve as High Commissioner to the UK.

Other non-career envoys include Ita Enang to South Africa, Former INEC boss, Mahmood Yakubu to Qatar and Grace Bent to Togo.

Among the career diplomats, Mohammed Mahmud Lele was posted to Algeria, Shehu Barde to Ghana and Abdussalam Zayyad to Senegal.

Others include Bako Umar to Morocco, Aminu Nasir to Ethiopia and Ibrahim Danlami to Kenya.

Onanuga said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had already received agrément from the United Kingdom for Dalhatu and from France for Ayodele Oke.

He added that nominations of the remaining envoys had been conveyed to the respective host countries for agrément in line with diplomatic practice.

The president also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence an induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and High Commissioners.
