Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, will on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, swear in five commissioner-designates who have been screened and confirmed by the Rivers State House of Assembly.

themomentng reports that a statement signed and issued on Tuesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, disclosed that the nominees are Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr. Peters Nwagor, Mr Lekue Kenneth, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart.

Wokoma said the swearing-in ceremony will be held at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, at 1:00 pm.

The statement added that the commissioner-designates, and their one guest each, are expected to be seated by 12:30 pm.

Recall that Rivers State House of Assembly on Monday rejected four of the nine commissioner-nominees submitted by Fubara for screening and confirmation.

However, the lawmakers confirmed five nominees as commissioners-designate after a screening exercise lasting over two hours.

The lawmakers, however, rejected the nominations of Prof Datonye Alasia, Tamuno Williams, and Otonye T.K.D. Amachree, Charity Deemua.

Amaewhule said the nominees were dropped due to poor performance during the screening and controversies surrounding their nominations.

“At the end of the screening exercise, the House has confirmed five of them.

“And four of them, the House has chosen to take a deep breath, given their poor performance and controversies surrounding their documents,” he said.

The Speaker added that the nominees failed to convince lawmakers they were capable of serving in the state executive council.
