Daniel Bwala, spokesperson on policy communication for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has accused Al Jazeera of selectively editing his interview on the program Head to Head, hosted by Mehdi Hasan, claiming the edits created a misleading narrative that fueled criticism online.
Bwala said the interview, recorded on February 11, 2026, lasted about one hour and twenty minutes, but the version released on March 5 was reduced to 49 minutes, with nearly 20 minutes removed. He also alleged that an additional 8-minute condensed version was later produced, combining different segments in a way that highlighted certain points while leaving out important context.
According to him, the network had initially promised to broadcast the full interview on television before posting it online but later cited breaking developments involving Israel, Iran, and the United States as the reason it did not air.
Reacting to the backlash on social media, Bwala maintained that he answered all questions during the session and did not deny any issues raised. However, he expressed regret about accepting the invitation, saying he expected the discussion to focus on government policies rather than his personal political past.
He said he has formally written to Al Jazeera demanding a public apology and warned that if the network fails to issue one, the matter could end up in a court in England. Bwala also insisted that releasing the full interview is necessary to provide the public with proper context.
