Bayern, already leading 6-1 from the first leg, controlled proceedings and delivered another emphatic performance.

The England captain converted on the rebound after his initial effort was saved and ordered retaken.

Kane doubled Bayern’s lead in the second half with a superb strike into the roof of the net in the 54th minute.

Teenager Lennart Karl extended the advantage shortly after, finishing from a precise pass by Luis Diaz in the 56th minute .

Diaz then added a fourth goal, calmly lifting the ball over the goalkeeper after a quick counter-attack in the 70th minute.

Atalanta pulled one back late through Lazar Samardzic in the 85th minute, but it proved only a consolation.

Kane reached the 50-goal milestone in 66 matches, matching Lionel Messi’s record in the competition.

Bayern’s dominant display underlined their attacking strength as they overwhelmed the Italian side.

The German champions will now face Real Madrid in a highly anticipated quarter-final clash.

Bayern head into the next round in formidable form after a high-scoring two-legged victory.
