The Delta State Police Command has reacted to the viral videos showing assault and alleged gang rape of women during a “raping festival” in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The videos, which surfaced on social media on Friday, March 20, 2026, show several women crying and calling for help as groups of men harassed and attacked them in public.

In one of the clips, a male voice was heard claiming that any woman who stepped outside during the festival risked being raped.

Another clip showed a lady being dragged on the ground, with men attempting to tear her clothes, while also manhandling her, before she was rescued by another person.

Several other ladies were also chased down the street by men numbering hundreds.

Reacting, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, described the incident as “alarming, disgusting, and embarrassing,” stressing that no cultural practice could justify such acts.

Edafe added that the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Aina Adesola, had ordered an investigation into the incident.

The police spokesman wrote on X: “This is alarming, disgusting and embarrassing. The CP has ordered an investigation into the incident.

“The command condemns this in totality, no custom or tradition is superior to the rights of citizens.

“The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Aina Adesola urges Deltans to remain calm while assuring that those responsible for this barbaric act will be arrested and brought to justice.

“The command also calls for witnesses who can provide with useful information that can aid the ongoing investigation.”
