He was quoted to have said that the new zonal leadership “must work together to deliver on the expectations of the party members”.

Fubara urged the new zonal executive to improve the party’s electoral fortunes in the next general elections.

“We can only achieve our goal when we are united and work together.

“I believe this is the right time, the right people and the right place,” he reportedly said.

He expressed the confidence that the re-elected zonal leadership would rise to the responsibility of their offices and effectively advance the interest of the party in the zone.

He thanked the Delta Government for hosting the congress and expressed the optimism that the region would continue to produce positive outcomes for the party.

According to the statement, the congress saw the re-election of the former executive through a consensus.

Party chieftains at the congress included the President of the Senate, Sen.Godswill Akpabio, the six governors as well as members of the National and State Assemblies, among other political leaders from the region.
