The Okaijesan Development Initiative (ODI), a Non-Governmental Organisations committed to grassroots transformation and sustainable rural development, is set to officially inaugurate its Board of Trustees at a high-level event scheduled to hold in Irrua, Edo State.
The inauguration, themed “Building Strong Communities: The Role of Effective Leadership in Rural Development,” will bring together government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, and development stakeholders to discuss actionable pathways for strengthening rural communities through purposeful leadership.
Addressing media executives in Benin City, Edo State, the ODI Convener, High Chief Chris Igene, PhD, the Enakhe of Irrua Kingdom, said the event will be hosted by His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, Executive Governor of Edo State, while the ceremony will be chaired by Professor Matthew Omo-Ojugo, with Austin Omobude serving as Co-Chairman. Renowned academic, Professor Matthew Izibili, will deliver the keynote lecture.
Distinguished personalities expected at the event include Engr. Adams Okoene, Bishop Matthew Okpebholo, Senator Joe Ikpea, High Chief Kizito Igene, and High Chief Phillips Ehiagwina, Prince Dr. Peter Okojie and Dr. Joseph Ohens
The occasion will also be graced by prominent traditional rulers in Irrua including: Onojie of Ugbegun, Onojie of Okpoji and the Onojie of Ewu.
Serving as Patron of the Initiative is HRH Alhaji W. O. Momodu II, JP, CON, the Ogirrua of Irrua Kingdom and Okaijesan of Esan Land.
The event is scheduled on Monday, April 6, 2026, by 11: 00 AM prompt at Okajiesan Hall, Irrua, Esan Central LGA, Edo State.
