A former member of the House of Representatives for the Fagge Federal Constituency in Kano State, Aminu Goro, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and announced plans to join the African Democratic Congress.

themomentng reports that Goro disclosed this in a resignation letter dated April 11 and addressed to the APC ward chairperson in Rigiyar Lemu.

The former lawmaker, who represented Fagge from 2011 to 2023, said his decision followed consultations and reflection on the evolving political landscape.

“The decision follows deep reflection, wide consultation, and careful consideration of the evolving political landscape, as well as my commitment to continue serving the people in the most effective and impactful manner,” he said.

Goro also expressed appreciation to the APC for giving him the opportunity to serve his constituents.

“I sincerely appreciate the party leadership at all levels, my colleagues, supporters, and members of the APC for the opportunity given to me to serve and contribute over the years,” he added.

Goro was first elected to the House of Representatives under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before defecting to the APC.

However, he lost his seat in the 2023 general election to Muhammad Bello of the New Nigeria Peoples Party.

In a recent political development in Kano, Bello and Governor Abba Yusuf have both defected from the NNPP to the APC, a move that has reshaped political influence within the ruling party in the state.

In a separate statement, Goro urged his supporters to remain calm as consultations continue regarding his next political move.

“I call on my supporters to remain calm, united, and focused as we continue to engage and consolidate on the next phase of our journey,” he said.

He added that further steps would soon be taken to formalise his new political engagement.

“Once consultations are concluded, I will inform the public of the time we will proceed for a courtesy visit to our leader and mentor, His Excellency Eng. Muhammad Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso (PhD), in respect of our political direction,” he said.
