Former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan and 15 others were on Sunday admitted into the Knighthood of Saint Paul (KSP) of the Diocese of Ogbia (Anglican Communion).
The admission took place at the St. Luke’s Anglican Church, Emeyal 2 in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.
themomentng reports that Patience Jonathan transferred her Knighthood from Aba Diocese to Ogbia Diocese.
In his sermon, the guest preacher Bishop Chikordi Wachukwu, from Ikwerre Diocese, reminded those admitted into the Knighthood to see it as an opportunity to serve God in higher glory.
He said that it was not all about wearing the regalia, but see it as a call to work with God saying that they should see it as long journey of service to God and humanity at large.
In her address, Mrs Jonathan, commended her husband, Goodluck Jonathan, whom, she said, had been supportive to her in the Christian race.
She appreciated her fellow Knights both old and new, as she had transferred her Knighthood from Aba Diocese to Ogbia Diocese.
According to her, I want to thank God and the Holy Spirit for giving me the grace to serve the church and the people.
“Knighthood is a call to service; I promise to live by example as more responsibility has been placed on me,” she said.
She urged her fellow Knights to always take pride in doing the things of God, because it paid to worship Him and keep His commandments, and to leave by example, no matter the situation they found themselves.
On his part, former President Goodluck Jonathan, commended all those who came to honour his wife and others in their admission into the Knighthood of Saint Luke.
He charged them not to take it for granted, saying knights were given to those who were responsible and are defenders of justice.
“Two things missing are justice and honesty, those are lacking in the society. Lack of justice is one of the main issue in Nigeria,”.
Jonathan said, “When justice and honesty is lacking, the society cannot make any progress, even as a democracy.
