An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Friday remanded two men, Victor Christian and Success Samuel, over alleged illegal possession of firearms.

Christian, 43, and Samuel, 29, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, belonging to a proscribed confraternity, and unlawful possession of firearms, filed by the police.

The prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendants, alongside others now at large, allegedly committed the offences on Oct. 4, 2025, at about 10.05 p.m., in the Nebanu area of Ishashi, Lagos.

The police alleged that the defendants were members of the Aiye confraternity, an unlawful society proscribed by law.

Ikhayere also said the defendants were found in possession of two semi-automatic pump-action guns, one locally made single-barrel gun, and 52 rounds of live ammunition without lawful authority from the Inspector-General of Police.

According to the police, the offences contravene Sections 41, 332(1)(d), and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants’ pleas were not taken.

The Magistrate, Mr L. A. Owolabi, ordered that the defendants be remanded at a correctional centre pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

However, the court granted the defendants bail of N700,000 each with two sureties in like sum.

Owolabi ordered that one surety must be a civil servant and the other a blood relative of the defendants.

He adjourned the case until Jan. 30 for further proceedings.
