Activities at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and its affiliate ministries, departments, and agencies picked up on Wednesday following workers’ resumption after the National Industrial Court ordered the suspension of the indefinite strike.

Justice E. D. Subilim of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria had on Tuesday ordered members of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) to suspend their ongoing strike and return to work immediately, urging parties to return to the negotiation table.

Reacting to the ruling, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, directed workers to immediately return to their duty posts, stressing that while protest is a recognised democratic right, judicial orders must not be disregarded.

“Yes, in a democracy, people have the right to protest, but court orders must be obeyed,” the minister was quoted as saying.

To enforce compliance, the Acting Head of Civil Service for the FCT, Mrs Nancy Sabanti, issued a circular dated January 27, 2026, mandating all Secretariats, Departments and Agencies (SDAs) to reopen and strictly monitor attendance.

The circular instructed Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies to open attendance registers and ensure full staff presence, reaffirming that the FCTA remained committed to addressing workers’ concerns in line with established procedures.

According to Vanguard, a visit to several FCTA offices and affiliated agencies revealed that many workers had resumed duties, with some seen attending to routine assignments.
