CMCM FC delivered an emphatic performance on home turf earlier today, defeating Rescue Talent FC 4–1 in an entertaining encounter at the Isheri Mini Stadium.
The 9 a.m. kickoff marked a significant outing for the church-owned side, as the team showcased attacking quality and defensive resilience in their opening fixture.
Bonire Musa emerged as the star in front of the goal, bagging a brace to set the tone for CMCM’s superiority. Gbega Bamidele and Lekan also found the back of the net, each contributing a goal to complete the commanding victory. Rescue Talent FC managed a consolation through Solomon Eya, but it proved insufficient against a well-organized CMCM side.
Between the sticks, goalkeeper Kehinde Abdullahi delivered a standout performance that earned him the Man of the Match award. Abdullahi saved a crucial penalty and denied the opposition on several occasions, ensuring CMCM maintained control of the contest.
The team, coached by Oriaku Michael N., demonstrated tactical discipline and sharp coordination, reflecting the growing structure within the club. CMCM FC operates under the guidance of newly appointed Technical Director Otunba Olusola Orelaja, a player-manager renowned for his scouting experience with Fulham and Tottenham, as well as his youth coaching and scouting role with Charlton Athletic in London.
Following the victory, Orelaja expressed appreciation to the General Overseer of Christ Miracle Church Mission, Peter Abiola Adebisi, for entrusting him with the project and for his commitment to nurturing young talents within the church and surrounding community.
The initiative, according to the church leadership, is focused on developing promising players into professionals with opportunities to play in Europe. The General Overseer also congratulated the team on their impressive start and challenged the players to remain dedicated in their pursuit of excellence, urging them to aspire to the heights reached by Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
With such a confident opening performance, CMCM FC appears poised to become a strong force while serving as a pathway for emerging football talents.
