The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) says it has engaged its members in food crop production, in a bid to promote food sufficiency and supply in the country.

Speaking on behalf of the Regional Farm Project Committee on Saturday in Akure, Pastor S.O. Ojo (JP), said that the initiative was to assist in alleviating poverty and unemployment in the country, which is a major concern for RCCG globally.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the engagement is tagged: “RCCG Ondo Region 39 On Farm Project”

Ojo told NAN that in line with this vision, the RCCG Ondo Region 39, had embarked on massive cassava plantation in early 2025, at the Ondo West Local Government Area of the State.

He noted that the act of harvesting alone, had offered job opportunities to many unskilled workers and unemployed youth.

According to him, the initiative to farm was a directive by RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enock Adeboye, to pastors at all levels of the church’s administration

Ojo noted that some of the produce would reduce the financial burden on feeding of congregations during RCCG Convention, adding that leftovers would assist the church’s corporate social responsibilities, as well as making food affordable to host communities.

“The process to production, is so encouraging that the purpose of the initiative is now justified by the yields that emerged from the farm.

“Arising from the huge success made in the regional farm, other provincial farms should emulate this strategy to be able to meet the essence of the vision.

“Our members are encouraged to key into this act and steer up the community spirit to help our people and the host communities,” he said.

Meanwhile, he noted that if pursued with the desired vigour, the target of each province will go a long way to project the image of the church as a pacesetter on food production, to alleviate the sufferings of people.
