Governor Siminalayi Fubara has taken a fresh step in strengthening his administration with the nomination of nine individuals for appointment as commissioners in Rivers State. The governor formally transmitted their names to the Rivers State House of Assembly for legislative screening and confirmation, a constitutional requirement before they can assume office as members of the State Executive Council.

In response, the Assembly issued an official notice summoning the nominees to prepare for the screening process. The announcement, released on Tuesday and endorsed by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Emeka Amadi, outlined the documentation each nominee must provide ahead of their appearance before lawmakers.

According to the directive, all nominees are required to submit forty copies of their Curriculum Vitae, along with photocopies of their academic and professional credentials. They must also present evidence confirming they are up to date with their tax obligations. The documents are to be delivered to the Office of the Clerk located within the Assembly Quarters.

The individuals nominated for the commissioner positions are:

Professor Datonye Alasia

Mr. Tonye Bellgam

Professor Temple Nwofor

Dr. Peters Nwagor

Mrs. Charity Deemua

Tamuno Williams, Esq.

Mr. Lekue Kenneth

Otonye TKD Amachree, Esq.

Sir Amairigha Edward Hart

Once the required documents are submitted, the nominees will appear before the House for a formal screening session. During the exercise, lawmakers are expected to assess their qualifications, professional experience, and suitability for public office. Following deliberations, the Assembly will vote on whether to confirm them as commissioners, paving the way for their inauguration into the Rivers State Executive Council.

The appointments are seen as part of ongoing efforts by the Fubara administration to consolidate governance and advance policy implementation across key sectors in the state.
