Speaking on the initiative, the sponsor of the championship, Honourable Tajudeen Ajide, said the tournament is designed to engage youths across the state and encourage their involvement in the electoral process.

Honorable Ajide, the former Chairman of Surulere Local government council noted that the initiative will also help young people appreciate the policies and youth-focused programmes introduced by the administration of President Tinubu, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund aimed at supporting students.

Ajide further disclosed that registration for the championship will commence towards the end of this month, while matches are expected to kick off across the state by mid-April 2026.

Chairman of the organizing committee, Tajudeen Disu, revealed that aside from the prize money, all four semi-finalists will receive branded jerseys.

He added that individual awards will also be presented at the end of the tournament, including Most Valuable Player, Highest Goal Scorer, Best Goalkeeper, and the Fair Play Award for the best-behaved team.

Disu also called on youths across the state to participate actively in the tournament and support President Tinubu in order to sustain the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
