A former Lagos lawmaker, Sir Jude Idimogu, has vowed to win Oshodi-Isolo federal constituency seat, currently occupied by the Labour Party for the All Progressives Congress (APC),if given the ticket.

Idimogu, a former two-term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, who represented Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Lagos.

Declaring interest in APC’s House of Representatives’ ticket in 2027 general elections, Idimogu, a financial expert, said he would win the constituency for the ruling party through his grassroots support.

He said his interest in the election was driven by his experience and demand from constituents.

“The current House of Representatives member representing our constituency is from the Labour Party.

“I am seeking the APC ticket to reclaim the seat for our party and restore quality representation to the people of Oshodi-Isolo.

“I urge the party leadership to give me the opportunity to serve again and deliver on the expectations of our people,” Idimogu said.

He said that since the 2023 general elections, he had improved on his political capacity, deepened his engagement with the people and developed better policy strategies to address the peculiar needs of the constituency.

“I have demonstrated growth and readiness since the 2023 general elections. I have refined my skills, policies and outreach strategies toward my constituents.

“I have maintained frequent engagement with the people, and this has given me a deeper understanding of the constituency-specific issues affecting Oshodi-Isolo.

“I am better prepared now, more than ever, to provide effective and impactful representation at the federal level,” he added.

The former lawmaker said his strong grassroots connection and wide acceptance across different groups in the constituency placed him in a good position to reclaim the seat for the APC.

“As a grassroots politician, I have a very strong voter support base and acceptability that cuts across the constituency.

“I am the only aspirant who can overwhelmingly contest and win the election for the party without controversy. I have done it in the past, and the people still believe in me.

“I am loved by both the indigenous and non-indigenous residents alike. They are constantly calling on me to come back and represent them because of my active engagement with the grassroots,” he said.

Idimogu also pointed to what he described as a gap in the quality of representation currently experienced by constituents at both the state and federal levels.

“There is an obvious gap in representation when you compare what we had during my time and what is obtainable now.

“My constituency office was always open and accessible to the people when I was in office, but today, many constituents struggle to access their representatives.

“I was always on the ground, moving around on foot within the constituency to resolve issues.

“I visited schools, hospitals and markets regularly to ensure things were in order, but the people are now complaining that such direct engagement is lacking,” he said.

He added that his return would bring innovative and technology-driven policies aimed at empowering youths and improving socio-economic development.

“If given the opportunity to represent Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II at the House of Representatives again,I will introduce fresh and innovative solutions.

“I am particularly passionate about tech-driven policies that will equip our youths with relevant digital skills, because that is the language of today’s economy.

“This will not only reduce unemployment but also position our young people to compete globally,” he said.

Idimogu further emphasised his commitment to inclusive representation, noting that his previous tenure earned him recognition as a champion of the masses.

“During my time in office, I was fondly called ‘a friend to the poor’ because of my grassroots approach to representation.

“Although I represented the entire constituency, my major focus was on the downtrodden and the poor masses.

“I carried everyone along — youths, women, men and all ethnic groups — ensuring that no one was left behind in governance,” he said.

He appealed to the leadership of the APC to consider his track record and give him the ticket to enable him reclaim the seat from the opposition.
