Arsenal’s Ben White and Newcastle’s Harvey Barnes have both been introduced to the England squad for the international break.
The Three Lions face Uruguay and Japan in their final friendlies before this summer’s World Cup in the US, Mexico and Canada as Tuchel attempts to decide who he will take for the tournament.
England boss Thomas Tuchel named a 35-man squad last week ahead of this month’s friendly clashes in what was a bigger selection than expected, suggesting that the German coach is considering all options.
Unfortunately, Eberechi Eze and Jarell Quansah have both picked up injuries ahead of the international break, which has allowed both Ben White and Harvey Barnes to come into the side.
White has returned to the England squad for the first time since 2022, whilst Barnes’ only appearance for the senior team came in October 2020.
A statement from the FA read: “Newcastle United’s Harvey Barnes and Arsenal’s Ben White have been added to the England squad.
“The pair replace Arsenal’s Eberechi Eze and Bayer Leverkusen’s Jarell Quansah, who are ruled out of the Three Lions’ March internationals through injury. Barnes made his only appearance for the senior team in October 2020, while White has four caps to his name.”
Barnes has been eyed by Scotland, but it looks like he has committed himself to England ahead of the World Cup, which will please fans and Tuchel ahead of the final selection.
