Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has been left shaken after a burglary at his home, with valuables estimated at £500,000 reportedly stolen.
According to Daily Sports, Alex Iwobi, who currently plays for Fulham, was held at knifepoint during the incident as attackers forced their way in. The intruders allegedly made off with luxury wristwatches, jewellery, two iPhones and a MacBook.
Iwobi is also believed to have had about £200,000 in cash on him at the time, which was said to have been taken.
Authorities have opened an investigation into the robbery.
The incident comes just days after the 29-year-old Nigerian international featured for Fulham in their 3-1 Premier League win over Burnley.
Despite the off-field ordeal, Iwobi has received recognition for his work beyond football, earning a place on the Football Black List 2025.
The list, announced on Tuesday, named him in the “Players Off the Pitch” category alongside Eberechi Eze and Jess Carter.
Founded in 2008, the initiative celebrates Black footballers making a positive impact through community work and activism.
Iwobi was recognised for launching Project 17 in 2021, an initiative focused on supporting underserved Black youth through football clinics, mentorship, education workshops and the annual P17 Cup.
His efforts have also earned him the Baobab Award in Sport, highlighting his influence on young people in Nigeria and beyond.
Other names on the 2025 list include Naomi Bedeau and Shakira Waithe.
Reacting to the honour, the Super Eagles posted on their official 𝕏 page: “We are proud of you, Alex @alexiwobi.”
