The list features a blend of experienced sports administrators, former athletes, and key stakeholders. Among those named are Mallam Saleh Ahmadu, alongside notable figures such as Amos Adamu, Patrick Ekeji, Alhassan Yakmut, and Gbenga Elegbeleye—all of whom bring extensive administrative experience, having previously served in top roles within the NSC.

Also included are former elite athletes and stakeholders such as Olympic champion Daniel Igali, Blessing Oborodudu, Tajudeen Ogunbade, Khadijat Sulaiman, and Victor Iroele. A representative of Premium Trust Bank, as well as the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Wale Adeniyi, were also named.

According to the Commission, the appointments reflect a strategic mix of experience, technical knowledge, and athlete representation as preparations intensify for the Games.

The 2026 Commonwealth Games will be held in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2, featuring athletes from about 74 Commonwealth nations and territories.

The Games will include 10 sports such as athletics, swimming, boxing, cycling, and gymnastics, with full integration of para-sports to promote inclusivity.

The unveiling of the ambassadors highlights the NSC’s renewed drive to strengthen preparations, enhance athlete support systems, and elevate Nigeria’s performance on the global stage.
