Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Sandamu Local Government Area of Katsina State have endorsed Yusuf Buhari as their preferred candidate for the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency, signalling early political positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced during a high-level meeting held at the Sandamu Local Government Secretariat, which brought together elected officials and political appointees across the constituency.
The gathering was described as a unified decision by party stakeholders seeking to consolidate support within the area.
Council chairman Usman Na Lado stated that the Yusuf Buhari APC endorsement reflects a collective resolution aimed at strengthening the party’s prospects at the polls.
He explained that Yusuf Buhari was chosen based on his perceived capacity and broad acceptance among stakeholders within the constituency.
Na Lado further noted that the meeting went beyond the House of Representatives race, as participants also reaffirmed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda as the party’s standard-bearers for the presidency and governorship respectively in the upcoming elections.
In addition, stakeholders reportedly backed Speaker of the Katsina State House of Assembly, Nasiru Yahaya Daura, for the Daura Senatorial seat.
The coordinated endorsements were presented as part of a broader strategy to align party interests across key electoral positions.
Na Lado urged party loyalists to intensify grassroots mobilisation efforts, describing the endorsements as an early step in preparing the ground for electoral success.
He emphasised the importance of unity and structured engagement with voters across the constituency.
However, sources within the party who spoke to Daily Trust suggested that the endorsement of Yusuf Buhari may reflect a directive from the state leadership, with claims that the governor has effectively positioned him as the anointed candidate.
The development highlights the growing political activity within the APC in Katsina State, as stakeholders begin to consolidate alliances and signal preferences well ahead of the next general election cycle.
