This comes as a major boost to Nigeria’s goalkeeping options, adding more quality and creating healthy competition within the squad.

Born September 9, 2001, in Camden, London, to Nigerian parents, Okonkwo stands at 1.98 – 1.99mm tall and began his career in Arsenal’s academy at the age of eight.

Okonkwo represented England at youth level between 2015 and 2019, featuring for the U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-18 teams.

He is currently the first-choice goalkeeper for Wrexham in the EFL Championship following a permanent move from Arsenal.

Okonkwo is now expected to get a chance to feature for the Super Eagles in the upcoming friendlies against India and Jamaica in May.

The Super Eagles also have two more friendlies lined up in June against Poland and Portugal.
