The Independent National Electoral Commission has redeployed the Resident Electoral Commissioner in Osun State, Mutiu Agboke, to Ondo State.
themomentng reports that Agboke made this known in a message posted on the official Osun INEC WhatsApp group late on Wednesday, where he expressed appreciation to staff and stakeholders for their support during his time in the state.
He said, “I have been transferred to Ondo State. I thank you most sincerely for the support given to me throughout my stay here in Osun State. May God Almighty support you all as well.”
The redeployment is coming as activities begin to build ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State.
Before leaving office, Agboke held a meeting on Tuesday with election stakeholders drawn from Ife North, Ife Central, Ife East, Atakunmosa West, Ilesa East, and Ilesa West local government areas.
At the meeting, he explained that the decision to suspend the voter revalidation exercise was taken by INEC’s national headquarters and must be obeyed by all parties involved.
He also spoke on the need for joint effort in moving the country forward, adding that the engagement was organised to allow open discussion, strengthen trust, and collect direct feedback on possible challenges that could affect the conduct of elections.
Some of the concerns raised during the session included low voter turnout, difficulties in logistics, and the need to improve security arrangements for future elections.
