Nollywood Actor Solomon Akiyesi dies

Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Solomon Akiyesi has passed away.

The sad development was confirmed on Monday by Abubakar Yakubu, who serves as the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria. He said the actor died in his sleep on Sunday.

According to him, Akiyesi went to bed but did not wake up. His body has been taken to a morgue in Abuja, where the incident occurred. The guild is still waiting for more details from the family to better understand what happened.

Akiyesi was from Ososo in Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State. He began acting in the late 1990s and built a long career in Nollywood, appearing in more than 100 films over the years.

He featured in several movies, including Marry Who You Love, Kiss My Pain, Joy of Nakasha, Heart of a Saint, Deadly Affair, Gen Z Wife, Olaedo The Fisher Girl, Pretty Liars, The End Is Near, and Desperate Ladies.

Following the news of his death, many fans and colleagues have taken to social media to mourn him and share memories of his work.

His death comes barely three weeks after veteran Nollywood actor, Davis Offor, popularly known for his role as Clarus in the iconic sitcom ‘The New Masquerade’, died.
