A member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, has resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Naija News reports that Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, announced his defection in a statement issued on Thursday.

The lawmaker defected alongside another House member representing Kudan/Makarfi Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, who resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the ADC.

The latest development adds to the growing wave of political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Three other lawmakers also announced changes in party affiliation.

Among them is Suleiman Richifa, representing Soba Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, who left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ADC.

Also, Abdulhakeem Ado from Kano State resigned from the ADC and joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

The defections come amid increasing movement among opposition politicians and lawmakers across the country.

In recent weeks, several politicians have dumped their parties for the ADC and NDC as coalition talks and political restructuring continue ahead of the next election cycle.
