Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has emerged the new Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), replacing Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma.
themomentng reports that the decision was reportedly taken during a special meeting of governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC), which took place on Thursday night in Abuja.
According to Vanguard, the meeting took place shortly after Uzodinma represented APC governors during the presentation of President Bola Tinubu’s presidential nomination and expression of interest forms in the nation’s capital.
Sources familiar with the meeting told the publication that around 20 APC governors were present at the closed-door gathering.
Among those said to have attended were governors from Ogun, Bayelsa and Enugu states.
The party said the decision was part of efforts to reposition the forum and strengthen inter-state collaboration among APC governors.
This development comes hours after the forum denied reports claiming that the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, was removed as chairman of the group.
The Director General of the forum, Folorunso Aluko, described the report making rounds online as false and lacking any truth. It said no meeting was held where such a decision was taken and no resolution was reached to remove the governor from his position.
