Radda emerges Katsina APC consensus Gov candidate

The Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda, has emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for the 2027 general election.

Radda was affirmed on Thursday by party delegates during a ceremony held at the Katsina People’s Square.

A total of 2,835 delegates unanimously endorsed the governor for a second-term bid in an exercise party leaders described as peaceful, transparent and orderly.

Presenting the governor before party faithful, the Chairman of the Primary Election Committee, Yakubu Machido, declared Radda as the APC consensus candidate.

Machido said the governor was effectively unopposed going into the exercise, adding that the affirmation reflected the position of party members and stakeholders across the state.

He said the process was conducted in line with the party’s commitment to unity and internal democracy.

Speaking at the event, the APC National Vice Chairman for the North-West zone, Muhammad Garba, said the committee was in Katsina to ensure a peaceful and credible primary process.

Garba said the successful affirmation of Radda showed the unity, discipline and commitment of APC members in the state.

According to him, the outcome was made possible through the dedication of the governor and the cooperation of party stakeholders from all parts of Katsina.

He commended members of the party for their orderly conduct and urged them to sustain the same spirit as preparations for the 2027 elections continue.

A former governor of Katsina State and Chairman of the APC Reconciliation Committee, Aminu Masari, also praised party members for maintaining peace during the process.

Masari urged both victorious and unsuccessful aspirants in various contests within the party to remain united ahead of the general elections.

He said the party’s priority should now be how to secure victory for all APC candidates in 2027.

“It’s like an arrow; once it is drawn, you must ensure that the target is achieved. Your focus should be on ensuring victory for all APC flag bearers. Katsina remains the true symbol of APC as one united family,” he said.

The Katsina State APC Chairman, Bishir Saulawa, described the state chapter of the party as a strong and united political family.

Saulawa said the cordial relationship among party leaders, members and stakeholders would continue to attract development and political success to the state.

He noted that the endorsement of Radda was a demonstration of confidence in the governor’s leadership and performance in office.

The party chairman added that the APC in Katsina would continue to work together to retain power and deliver victory for its candidates at all levels.

In his acceptance speech, Radda expressed gratitude to the delegates, party leaders, elders and supporters for the confidence reposed in him.

The governor said the endorsement had placed on him a renewed responsibility to continue serving the people of Katsina State with dedication.

He assured party members and residents of the state that he would not disappoint them.

Radda also appealed for continued support for President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates ahead of the forthcoming elections.

themomentng reports that the ceremony was attended by top APC officials, political office holders, lawmakers, former governors, local government chairmen and statutory delegates from the 34 local government areas of the state.

Also present were members of the State Executive Council, women and youth groups, party elders and other stakeholders.

The event ended with the formal presentation of the APC flag to Radda by the APC National Vice Chairman for the North-West, Muhammad Garba.

The presentation officially confirmed the governor as the party’s consensus governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Katsina State.
