Former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has rejected the results of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election held on Monday.

themomentng reports that Amaechi, in a statement issued on Tuesday, described the results being announced as “concocted,” alleging widespread disenfranchisement and electoral irregularities.

The former minister said he had earlier made it clear that he would only accept the outcome of the primary if the process was free, fair and transparent.

“I unequivocally reject the concocted results being announced,” Amaechi stated.

“I had initially stated that I will only accept the outcome of the Primaries if the process was free, fair, and transparent, and I stand by my word.”

Amaechi alleged that a large number of ADC members across the country were prevented from participating in the exercise.

According to him, the alleged disenfranchisement undermined the credibility of the primary.

“There’s no way that about eighty percent of members of the party were not allowed to vote, and you expect me to accept such results,” he said.

“Then what makes us different from the others?”

The rejection is expected to heighten tension within the ADC, especially as the party moves to conclude its presidential nomination process ahead of the 2027 general election.

The party leadership has yet to formally respond to Amaechi’s allegations as of the time of filing this report.
