The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) has fixed Thursday for its governorship primary election in Oyo State as preparations continue ahead of the 2027 general elections.
themomentng reports that the exercise is expected to bring together party members, leaders, and supporters from different parts of the state.
The event will take place at the Watershed Event Centre in Ibadan. It will also cover the selection of candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and the Oyo State House of Assembly across different districts and constituencies.
A party member, Abimbola Adekanmbi, is expected to emerge as the consensus governorship candidate of the APM before the start of the primary. Party leaders said the process is part of efforts to build a stronger structure and improve the party’s position ahead of the next election cycle in the state.
The gathering is also expected to attract key political figures and observers within and outside Oyo State. There are reports that the governor of the state, Seyi Makinde, may attend the event.
Supporters of Adekanmbi have described him as someone with experience and capacity to lead the state and push development goals.
The Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) also restated its plan to promote leadership selection based on internal processes and to focus on policies aimed at improving living conditions across Oyo State.
