The Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, says its partnership with a Chinese technology firm will strengthen research and development.

The cooperation also focussed at expanding distance and digital learning, advancement of smart education initiatives, and the application of emerging technologies in teaching and learning.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, said this during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the DazzleView Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd. Guangzhou, China.

This is contained in a statement by Auwalu Umar, Director Public Affairs Directorate, ABU, on Thursday in Zaria.

He said the partnership would enhance collaboration in educational technology, research, capacity building and industry engagement.

Ahmed said that such collaboration between universities and technology firms would address major educational challenges facing developing countries, particularly the growing number of out-of-school children.

He said technology-driven solutions could provide effective pathways for expanding access to quality education, especially for underserved and vulnerable populations.

“This is an area where partnerships between universities and technology companies can make a truly transformative difference,” he said.

Ahmed described the agreement on smart education as a foundation for a stronger and more productive relationship between the two organisations.

He highlighted that the partnership would bridge the gap between knowledge and practical application while promoting innovation and inclusive development.

“Together, we can connect knowledge with practical application, transform ideas into solutions and ensure that technology serves as a powerful tool for inclusion and development,” he said.

Ahmed commended DazzleView for its continued support to the university, adding the company donated a smart classroom to the university in 2022.

The facility,  he said, significantly improved teaching and learning activities in the institution, thus demonstrating the transformative impact of technology on education.

Ahmed reiterated the university’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research and innovation.

“ABU is also prioritising entrepreneurship and the commercialisation of research findings to ensure that innovations are translated into practical solutions that benefit society,” he said.
