MOGO Kenya has announced that its smartphone financing business has surpassed 500,000 financed devices across East Africa within just 14 months, highlighting the growing demand for affordable device financing and digital access across the region.

The milestone covers operations in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, with the company stating that more than half a million customers have gained access to smartphones through its financing solutions. In Kenya alone, MOGO reported that it has financed over 200,000 smartphones.

According to the company, the growth has been driven by digital loan approvals, flexible “lipa mdogo mdogo” payment plans, and an expanding retail network that now includes more than 2,000 partner outlets across the country.

MOGO said the milestone represents more than device sales, noting that access to smartphones enables consumers to participate in digital services, including communication, education, business activities, and financial services.

The company emphasized that affordable smartphone financing plays an important role in advancing digital inclusion, particularly in emerging markets where the upfront cost of devices remains a barrier to internet access and participation in the digital economy.

As smartphone adoption continues to grow across East Africa, MOGO said it remains focused on expanding access to affordable financing solutions to help more communities connect to digital services and opportunities.
