The Lagos police have arraigned 27-year-old TikToker Oladimeji Hammed, popularly known as Immunizer, at an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for alleged cyberbullying and online harassment of Mrs. Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, the widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known professionally as Mohbad.

Hammed was arraigned on a six-count charge alleging that he used social media platforms to publish harmful, insulting, and provocative content targeting the 26-year-old widow.

According to the prosecution, the alleged offences began on February 8, when Hammed posted a claim that Omowunmi was planning to flee Nigeria before justice was served in her husband’s death, attaching her passport photograph to the post.

On February 11, he allegedly published content suggesting that the widow had failed to deny allegations of infidelity during court proceedings. Eight days later, on February 19, he allegedly shared material claiming that private content belonging to the singer’s widow had been leaked online.

On March 14, the defendant allegedly published a video containing derogatory remarks and accusations against Omowunmi, suggesting she was involved in a hidden agenda relating to her late husband’s affairs.

The final count alleges that he published nude images and other content intended to humiliate and bully her.

Police prosecutors told the court that between February 8 and March 14, Hammed consistently disseminated insulting, abusive, and provocative communications against the widow, exposing her to public ridicule, hatred, online trolling, and physical threats.

The prosecution further alleged that the sustained online attacks contributed to an incident on March 15 when Omowunmi was publicly confronted and nearly physically attacked by members of the public.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to all charges and was admitted to bail on strict conditions, including two sureties who must each provide evidence of a bank balance of at least ₦700,000.

One surety, the court ruled, must be a state civil servant and the other a blood relative of the defendant, with both required to present evidence of up-to-date tax compliance.

The Nation reports that Omowunmi has faced relentless online harassment since the death of her husband on September 12, 2023, despite not being charged in connection with the singer’s death.

Mohbad’s passing sparked nationwide outrage and calls for justice. Investigations led to criminal charges against auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe and the singer’s associate, Ayobami Sadiq, known as Spending, both of whom are currently standing trial.

Ogedengbe is accused of administering an injection to the singer without proper medical authorisation, leading to complications before his death. Sadiq faces charges arising from his alleged role in events preceding the incident. Both trials are ongoing.

The case has been adjourned for further hearing.
