In a rare display of conciliation toward the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, former governor of Ogun State has thrown his weight behind Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi, the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate for the 2027 election.
Speaking after a close door meeting between the candidate and other leaders of the party in his Ibara GRA residence, Senator Amosun said with the visit of Senator Adeola to his house and being the candidate of his party, APC, he has no choice but to fully support him in the race towards 2027.
“With this visit, we are now one united family. Virtually all the leaders that came with you are my people. The Senator is our party’s candidate and all must support him to win the general election,” he stated.
Senator Amosun stated that the storm of the primaries and rivalries are over and a new dawn beckons in Ogun State stressing that there is every need now to carry the grassroots along not only for election but for development initiatives.
Speaking earlier on the purpose of his visit, Senator Adeola Yayi said he came specifically to thank Senator Amosun for his contribution to state and national development which are visible for all to see as well as to show appreciation for Senator Amosun’s support for his emergence as the consensus candidate of APC.
The chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations apologized for any act that may have offended the former governor adding that he seeks his understanding and support as the state move to a new cycle of election.
The Senator was accompanied to the visit by APC leaders and other stakeholders namely Alhaja Salmot Badru, former Deputy Governor of the state, Dr. Kunle Salako, Minister of State for Health and Social Services, Senator Lekan Mustapha, Rt. Hon Muyiwa Oladipupo, Rt Hon. Titi Oseni, Rt. Hon, Suraj Adekumbi and Rt. Hon. Kunle Oluomo, all former Speakers of Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon, Daisi Elemide, the Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Mrs. Temitope Adeola, wife of the Senator, Dr. Kayode Egbetokun, former Inspector General of Police, Hon. Gboyega Isiaka (APC, Imeko Afon/ Yewa North Federal Constituency), Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade, former governorship candidate in Ogun State and a host of other serving and former top officials in the state.
