The African Democratic Congress has announced the nomination of David Okumgba as its Rivers State deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The state chairman of the party, Chukwudi Dimgba, in a statement on Tuesday, affirmed Okumgba’s nomination to run with the party’s governorship candidate and former Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr Gabriel Pidomson.
The statement sent to journalists described Okumgba as a politician who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in both the private and political sectors.
The state ADC chairman further said the Pidomson-Okumgba ticket represents competence, experience, inclusiveness, and a shared vision for a new Rivers State, even as he called on the people of the oil-rich state to accept and support the duo.
The statement read, “His experience includes serving as South-South Zonal Secretary of a major political party, South-South Zonal Publicity Secretary, and Chairman of the Appeal Committee for Senatorial Primaries in Edo State.
“He also previously contested for the Rivers State House of Assembly, reflecting his longstanding commitment to democratic governance and grassroots representation.
“His wealth of political experience, organisational capacity, interpersonal skills, and deep understanding of the socio-political landscape of Rivers State make him an outstanding choice to partner with our governorship candidate, Hon. Gabriel Baritulem Pidomson.
“This ticket represents competence, experience, inclusiveness, and a shared vision for a new Rivers State founded on good governance, accountability, economic growth, security, and equal opportunities for all. The party is confident that the Pidomson-Okumgba ticket reflects the aspirations of the people of Rivers State and offers the leadership, competence, and integrity required to move our state forward.
“We call on all members of our great party, supporters, and the good people of Rivers State to receive Mr David Amapakaye Okumgba with enthusiasm and to join us as we continue to build a broad-based movement committed to delivering a government that truly serves the people,” it added.
The Rivers ADC chairman assured that the party under his watch “shall inspire confidence, unite our people, and build the Rivers State we all deserve.”
