The fourth batch of Nigerians evacuated from South Africa has arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The returnees arrived aboard an Air Peace evacuation flight as part of the federal government’s voluntary repatriation exercise.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the flight conveyed 284 passengers, comprising 272 adults and 12 infants, alongside two government officials.
Officials of relevant government agencies were on the ground to receive the returnees on arrival.
Documentation and reception procedures have commenced, while support services are being provided to aid their reintegration.
Recall that the evacuation flight earlier scheduled to return stranded Nigerians from Johannesburg, South Africa, was delayed after a technical fault was detected on the aircraft assigned for the operation.
According to TVC, the Air Peace aircraft could not depart after cracks were discovered on the cockpit windscreen during pre-flight safety checks.
The airline subsequently suspended the flight as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and crew.
