Rudi Garcia is the latest coach to depart from his position following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup tournament on Sunday, which saw Spain defeat Argentina 1-0 in the final.
Garcia’s contract will not be extended as the head coach of Belgium’s football national team.
The 62-year-old now joins 16 other coaches to lose their jobs, having guided Belgium to the quarterfinals of the World Cup, where they were defeated by eventual champions, Spain.
In a statement released on Monday, the Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) announced the end of its partnership with Garcia, whose contract expires on 31 July.

Steve Clarke – He stepped down as Scotland coach following a group stage exit.
Hong Myung-bo – He resigned as South Korea’s coach following an early elimination.
Sabri Lamouchi—He was sacked as Tunisia coach after the first game of the tournament following a 5-1 defeat.
Miroslav Koubek—He resigned as Czechia’s coach after group stage elimination.
Pape Thiaw—His contract was terminated as Senegal’s coach following the team’s exit.
Rudi Garcia – He departed his role as Belgium coach after a quarter-final exit.
Carlos Queiroz—He resigned as Ghana coach after a Round of 32 exit.
Jamal Sellami – He departed from his role as Jordan coach after an early exit.
