The National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) has sealed four facilities in Nasarawa State over non-compliance with environmental standards and regulations.

A statement issued on Friday in Abuja, by Mrs Nwamaka Ejiofor, Assistant Director of Press at NESREA, said the enforcement was carried out on Thursday.

Ejiofor explained that the agency shut down ABZAT Quarry, Hoafong Mining Trading Company Ltd, Emono Venture and Mivanyi Integrated Farms for offences ranging from air pollution to lack of environmental management documents.

She said the exercise was in line with the agency’s mandate to protect the environment and prohibit activities that undermine environmental sustainability and public health.

Ejiofor said that the enforcement team was led by Mr Monday Da’am, Head of Operations of the Karu operational office of NESREA.

“NESREA reiterates its commitment to ensuring strict compliance with environmental laws, standards and regulations across the country.

“Facilities have been urged to adopt environmentally responsible practices and deploy best available technology in their operations.

“This enforcement exercise further demonstrates NESREA’s resolve to safeguard the environment, protect public health and ensure sustainable development across the country,” Ejiofor said.
