PDP mourns National Vice-Chairman, South-South, Dan Orbih

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed sadness over the passing of its National Vice Chairman, South-South, Dr Dan Orbih.

themomentng reports that the PDP chieftain died in London on Monday during a brief illness. He was aged 64.

PDP,​‌‌‍⁠‌‍⁠⁠‌‍‌​​​‌‍‌‌​ in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, on Tuesday in Abuja, described Orbih’s death as a loss to the party.

It also directed that all PDP flags be flown at half-mast for three days to mourn the departed party chieftain.

Mohammed described Orbih as a loyal, committed and dependable member of PDP, saying that he devoted himself to the ideals of democracy and advancement of the party.

“His dedication, wisdom and contributions to the growth and stability of PDP will remain deeply appreciated and fondly remembered by the party and its members.

“His death is a great loss, not only to his family and loved ones, but also to the entire PDP family,” he said.

Mohammed said that the party extended its deepest condolences to Orbih’s immediate family, relatives, friends and associates as well as all members and supporters of the party.

“The party particularly commiserates with the Hon. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over the loss of his close confidant, trusted associate and friend.

“We share in his grief at this difficult moment and pray that Almighty God grants him the strength to bear this painful loss,” he said.

Mohammed said that Orbih might have departed this world, but his service, loyalty, and contributions to PDP and Nigeria’s democratic journey would not be forgotten.

“At this moment of grief, the party stands firmly with his family and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

“As a mark of honour and respect for the late national vice chairman, the National Working Committee hereby directs all PDP offices to fly the party flag at half-mast for a period of three days,” Mohammed said.

He prayed God to grant the bereaved family and his loved ones the strength and fortitude to bear the ‘painful and irreparable loss.’
