inDrive, a global mobility and delivery services platform, has introduced a new feature providing free parcel coverage for business users of its courier service in Nigeria. This initiative protects parcels valued up to ₦50,000 against loss or damage during delivery, offering enhanced security for small business owners and entrepreneurs who rely on last-mile delivery to reach their customers.

According to the management of inDrive, this new coverage aims to instill confidence in business users. Eligible participants can receive a refund for parcels lost or damaged in transit, ensuring they are not left to bear the financial burden alone. “Users who experience an issue with a delivery must contact Customer Support through the inDrive app within 48 hours of the parcel being picked up,” the company stated.

The company noted further that the new coverage complements the existing tools available to inDrive.Courier users, which include access to real-time tracking, courier verification and the ability to share delivery tracking links with recipients.

Additionally, the service provides business users with flexibility in managing their deliveries. They can choose between motorcycles and cars based on parcel size, select couriers by rating, negotiate delivery fares, and plan routes for multi-stop deliveries.

Eligible business users will notice a dedicated parcel coverage banner in the order form and during active deliveries. If a covered parcel is lost or damaged, users can initiate a claim through the inDrive Customer Support within the app. Claims are typically reviewed within three to seven days, and users who submit their bank details can receive refunds within 14 days, subject to the coverage limit.

All couriers are required to undergo identity verification, including ID validation through a government database and, where applicable, driver’s license verification before accepting orders. The parcel coverage is available to eligible inDrive.Courier business users in Nigeria at no additional cost.

Speaking on the introduction of the new feature, Country Manager, inDrive Nigeria, Timothy Oladimeji, stated that the initiative was designed to address one of the concerns faced by businesses that rely on courier services to deliver products to customers.

“A lost or damaged parcel can significantly impact a small business, affecting customer relationships and revenue. Every parcel an entrepreneur sends carries a piece of their business’s reputation. Parcel coverage means that if something goes wrong in transit, our users are not left to absorb the loss alone. It is one more way we are building trust into every step of last-mile delivery in Nigeria,” Oladimeji stated.
