Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command attached to the Ijebu-Igbo Division have arrested a 20-year-old suspect in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a 19-year-old female victim in the Oke Sopen area of Ijebu-Igbo.
The arrest followed a formal report lodged at the station on Tuesday, 1st September 2026, at about 10:10am by the victim’s mother regarding an incident that occurred on August 30th at their residence in Odo Idi Scale, Oke Sopen, Ijebu-Igbo.
Upon receipt of the report, police operatives immediately swung into action, visiting and securing the scene of the crime to gather crucial evidentiary material. In line with standard procedures and survivor-centered care, investigating officers promptly escorted the victim to the General Hospital, supported by a formal Police Medical Form, for comprehensive medical examination and care.
Following preliminary inquiries, operatives successfully tracked down and arrested one suspect, identified as Ayomide Kamula, ‘m’, aged 20. The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation, while robust operational measures and intelligence-led searches have been intensified to track down and apprehend the fleeing co-suspect, identified as Boye Balogun, ‘m’, who remains at large.
Confirming the arrest to newsmen, the command’s spokesperson, ASP Oluborode Opeyemi, said the case is currently being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
