An Air China Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental suffered a fuel leak and minor wing damage at John F. Kennedy International Airport early Monday after a refuelling truck pulled away while still connected to the aircraft.
The incident occurred between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM on 31 August 2026. The aircraft was parked at a terminal gate undergoing a routine turnaround.
The truck moved with two hoses still attached to the under-wing ports. The tension tore the aircraft’s fuel port connections, causing jet fuel to spill heavily onto the airport apron.
