Tayo Odueke, popularly known as Sikiratu Sindodo, has opened up about her past relationship with National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) figure Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo.
The Yoruba film actress said she now believes some relationships are better kept away from public attention, admitting that she regrets making her relationship with Akinsanya known.
Speaking during an interview with Oyinmomo TV on YouTube, Odueke was asked why the relationship ended but chose not to discuss the circumstances surrounding the breakup.
She said, “It’s a long story, and I’d rather not go into it”.
Instead, the actress reflected on her decision to publicly identify Akinsanya as her partner at the time.
Odueke explained that she had no reason then to conceal the relationship because she felt Akinsanya treated her well and was a kind-hearted person.
She said she believed people would eventually become aware of the relationship if they were married, so she did not see the need for secrecy.
“Normal, if you’re married to someone, people will eventually know. Back then, I didn’t care and I didn’t see any reason to hide it.
“Sometimes, it’s better to keep things private. I envy my colleagues who kept their affairs out of the public eye. I regret announcing my relationship with Alhaji MC Oluomo. It wasn’t worth it. He was very good to me and treated me well, which is why I published his name. But I shouldn’t have.”
Odueke’s comments suggest that her view on keeping her personal life private has changed since the relationship became public, as she now appreciates the approach taken by colleagues who have chosen to keep their romantic affairs away from public scrutiny.
