The United States has announced a ban on imports of some Canadian products, including dairy, alcohol and motorcycles, as a trade dispute between the two countries escalates.
U.S. President Donald Trump signed executive orders banning the products on Tuesday in response “to continued discrimination against the commerce” of the U.S., the orders state.
Included in the ban are motorcycles and mopeds, whey protein concentrates and certain wines, beers, vodkas, and spirits, according to the orders.
The products will no longer be permitted to be imported into the U.S. from Sept. 29, the orders state.
The move is the latest in the trade dispute between the two countries, with Canada imposing tariffs of up to 50 per cent on some U.S. imports earlier in the day.
Trump then announced Canadian-made products would be barred from certain U.S. government purchasing contracts.
The independent agency that oversees federal government procurement had been directed to remove products from Canada from its “multiple award schedules,” Trump said.
“The Canadian government, including Canadian Provinces, have banned American Small Businesses and Companies.
