“Widow’s Bay’ and “The Pitt” emerged as the biggest winners at the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards held on Monday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
“Widow’s Bay”, Apple TV’s horror-comedy series, won Outstanding Comedy Series and dominated the comedy categories, while “The Pitt” retained the Outstanding Drama Series award for the second consecutive year.

Matthew Rhys won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for “Widow’s Bay”, while Stephen Root and Kate O’Flynn won the Supporting Acting categories for the series.
In the drama categories, Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor for “The Pitt”, securing his second consecutive Emmy in the category.
Rhea Seehorn won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for “Pluribus,” while Tom Pelphrey and Allison Janney received the Supporting Acting Awards for “Task and The Diplomat.”
Jean Smart also made history by winning Outstanding Lead Actress in a comedy series for “Hacks” for the fifth consecutive time.
The award was her eighth Emmy, tying her with Cloris Leachman and Julia Louis-Dreyfus among the performers with the most acting Emmy wins.
In the limited or anthology series category, “DTF St. Louis” won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, while Matthew Rhys also won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for “The Beast in Me”.
Sally Field won Outstanding Lead Actress in the category for “Remarkably Bright Creatures” as “The Traitors” won Outstanding Reality Competition Programme and “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” won Outstanding Variety Series.
The ceremony was hosted by actress Mariska Hargitay, while Actor, Michael J. Fox received the Bob Hope Humanitarian Award for his advocacy and contributions to Parkinson’s disease research.
The awards recognized outstanding television programming and individual achievements from the 2025-2026 television season.
