The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, will on Wednesday proceed on his annual traditional ‘Ulefunta’ leave.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the traditional ruler, Mr Michael Adeyeye, on Tuesday in Akure.
It said that the traditional ruler would use the seven-day seclusion to pray and seek the good and peace of Akure, the state and the country at large.
“The annual leave is expected to last for a period of seven days beginning from Wednesday, Sept. 16 till Tuesday, Sept. 22.
“It is important to notify the public and residents that beating of drum is prohibited within the Akure main town throughout the seven days.
“Additionally, all roads leading to the Deji’s palace will be closed to commuters during the Ulefunta period.
“All road users in this area are therefore enjoined to make use of the adjoining routes.
“Also, all markets, shops and stalls around the Deji’s Palace will remain closed for the Ulefunta period,” the statement read.
It enjoined residents of Akure to comply with the directive as they go about their lawful activities.
