The Centre for Space Life Sciences (CSLS) of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) has inaugurated the University of Ibadan Space Club at the Department of Physics.
The inauguration ceremony which was themed “Inspire the Next Generation,” was conducted by the Acting Director of CSLS at the University of Ibadan, Dr. Olakunle Rufus Oladosu.
Dr. Oladosu disclosed that the club is a platform that would expose students to the growing opportunities in space science, technology, and related fields.
He explained that from space medicine and data science to radio telescope building, community outreach and ASPEX 2026, the Space Club is designed to give young minds the opportunity to learn, experiment, collaborate, and solve real-world problems.
The Acting Director also said that the club is strictly for students and would have executive members for its effective functionality, reiterating that the role of the Center would be for support and professional guidance.
The event which brought together students and space science enthusiasts featured stimulating conversations on the limitless possibilities of space science, innovation, research, and technology.
An overview of the purpose of the club, its expected membership, and its role in promoting space education, innovation, and knowledge sharing among students was highlighted at the ceremony.
The event also underscored the need to develop a community of students equipped with knowledge, skills, and innovative ideas capable of contributing to Nigeria’s space sector.
