Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Jamaica, Jane Bassey Adams, presented her Letters of Credence to Governor-General Sir Patrick Linton Allen at King’s House in Kingston on 10 September 2026.
Adams conveyed greetings from President Bola Tinubu to Sir Allen, the government and the people of Jamaica. She described the presentation as a significant milestone in Nigeria-Jamaica relations, pointing to the enduring historical bonds and shared heritage between both countries.
The High Commissioner stressed the need to translate those bonds into practical partnerships, identifying trade and investment, health, culture, technology, tourism and education as priority areas.
She said she would work closely with Jamaican authorities and other stakeholders to identify new opportunities for cooperation while strengthening existing partnerships.
Adams said her mission would be guided by the vision of “A New Dawn” in Nigeria-Jamaica relations, with emphasis on deeper bilateral engagement.
The Federal Government said it remains committed to working with Jamaica on new opportunities for enhanced cooperation, ensuring the fraternal ties between both countries continue to deliver meaningful and mutually beneficial outcomes.
The High Commission in Kingston is expected to begin follow-up engagements with Jamaican ministries and agencies in the coming weeks.
