Paystack has introduced South Africa’s first onsite card checkout for Shopify, allowing shoppers to pay directly within a business’s online checkout twithout being redirected to a separate payment page.
For businesses preparing for Black Friday, the update addresses a crucial part of the shopping experience: the moment a customer decides to pay. Merchants invest in bringing people to their stores, helping them discover products, and earning their trust. Sending shoppers to a separate payment page introduces another step before they can complete their purchase.
Paystack’s onsite checkout removes that step, making it easier for customers to move from choosing a product to paying for it.

Shopify agencies working with local businesses are already reporting improvements. Mario Tuscano, Managing Director at AskMario, says some clients have seen “an increase in conversion of up to 15% just from this feature alone.”
The launch comes ahead of Black Friday, when businesses prepare for increased demand and look for ways to turn more visits into completed sales.
Connecting in-store payments to Shopify
Alongside onsite checkout, Paystack is introducing a Shopify integration for Paystack Terminal, its in-person payments device. The integration links card payments made in physical stores with merchants’ Shopify accounts, supporting businesses that sell both online and in person.
For retailers preparing for Black Friday and the festive shopping season, the two updates address connected needs: making online checkout easier for customers and connecting in-store payments to the platform they already use.
