Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its online recruitment portal for Nigerians interested in serving as ad-hoc personnel during the 2027 general elections.
INEC said applications are being received through its Personnel Recruitment System, INECPRES, with the portal remaining open until midnight on November 18, 2026. The commission is targeting about 1.4 million temporary personnel for deployment across more than 176,000 polling units nationwide.
Available positions include Supervisory Presiding Officers, Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers, Registration Area Centre Managers and Registration Area Technical Support personnel.
Eligibility depends on the position applied for. Serving and some former National Youth Service Corps members, students of federal and state tertiary institutions, qualified public servants and ICT personnel are among those permitted to apply under specified conditions.
For supervisory presiding officer positions, eligible public servants generally fall within specified grade levels, while presiding officer and assistant presiding officer roles are open to qualified students and some government employees.
Registration Area Centre Managers are expected to be drawn mainly from institutions designated to host election collation and deployment centres, while technical support positions are targeted at applicants with relevant ICT backgrounds.
Applicants, except in some technical categories, are generally expected to reside in the state selected for deployment.
INEC has also stressed political neutrality as a condition for recruitment. Applicants must not be members of political parties or have openly demonstrated support for any candidate or party.
The commission advised interested Nigerians to apply only through its official recruitment platform and avoid individuals or websites demanding payment in exchange for employment.
The INECPRES portal became active on September 18 and is currently accepting applications.
