Elon Musk says SpaceX will rename its artificial intelligence unit from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, adopting the term “super intelligence” in place of artificial intelligence.
Musk confirmed the planned change on X after a user suggested replacing the “AI” in the unit’s name with “SI.” He did not announce when the new name would formally take effect.
The decision comes days after President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to use “Super Intelligence” and “SI” instead of “Artificial Intelligence” and “AI” in official government communications and non-statutory documents. The policy applies to the federal executive branch and does not require private companies to adopt the terminology.
SpaceXAI had not changed its X account name at the time Musk announced the planned rebranding, and the company has not released further details about the transition.
