The Federal Government has released the Consolidated Non-Academic Staff Tertiary Institutions Allowance (CONTA) to non-academic staff of federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria.

The Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Folasade Boriowo, announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
‎
Boriowo quoted the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, as saying that the payment covering January to August 2026 demonstrated the President Bola Tinubu administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare and industrial harmony. TrackExec Orders

“The release of CONTA underscores the administration’s recognition that the welfare, motivation and commitment of both academic and non-academic personnel are essential to the stability and effective functioning of tertiary institutions,” Alausa said.
‎
Alausa said the payment was part of the federal government’s efforts to address legitimate welfare concerns and minimise disruptions of academic activities in tertiary institutions.
‎
The minister added that the release followed the commencement of payment of the Consolidated Academic Tertiary Institutions Allowance (CATA) to academic staff on Monday.
‎
He assured stakeholders that the ministry would continue to engage relevant unions and institutional authorities to address outstanding issues and promote a stable and productive tertiary education system.
‎
Alausa commended academic and non-academic staff, heads of institutions, unions and other stakeholders for their patience and cooperation.
‎
Alausa reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to policies that prioritise staff welfare, institutional stability, human capital development and improved learning outcomes.
